Getting Started
What exactly is Exegete and how does it help me as a pastor?

Exegete is a sermon research and feedback assistant built specifically for pastors. You share your scripture passage, theme, and key points — and the AI surfaces historical context, scholar insights, theological alignment, and sermon feedback, all filtered through your denomination's theological lens.

Think of it as having a well-read research assistant who can pull the most relevant material for your specific message — in minutes instead of hours. You can also use Sermon Review to get rhetorical and theological feedback on a completed sermon, and Post Sermon to turn a recorded sermon into a podcast package with delivery coaching.

Do I need to be tech-savvy to use this?

Not at all. If you can type a text message or write an email, you can use Exegete. You simply type or paste your sermon notes — your scripture, theme, and any key points — and the tool handles the rest. No technical setup, no learning curve.

How is this different from just using ChatGPT or Google?

Three key differences. First, it requires your notes before it researches — the AI never generates content from scratch. Your scripture and theme drive everything, so the research is always grounded in your preparation, not invented by a machine.

Second, every scripture reference is verified against a live Bible database — exact text, no hallucinations. And third, results are filtered through your denomination's theological lens, so sources and interpretations align with your tradition rather than giving you a generic theological mix.

Theology & Trust
Will the AI write my sermons for me?

No — and that's intentional. Exegete is a research tool, not a ghostwriter. It won't generate sermon outlines, write your introduction, or craft your conclusion. It surfaces the scholarly material, background, and cross-references that inform your message. The preaching remains entirely yours.

You bring the calling, the conviction, and the Holy Spirit-led direction. Exegete brings the library.

Is it theologically safe? Will it give me theologically off-base material?

This was our primary design concern. When you set up your profile, you select your denomination — and from that point on, all research is filtered through that theological lens. Interpretive frameworks and illustrative material are all selected with your tradition in mind.

That said, we always encourage pastors to read with discernment. Exegete is a tool to accelerate your research, not replace your theological judgment.

Which denominations are supported?

We currently support Assemblies of God, with Church of God, Southern Baptist, Foursquare, and Non-Denominational traditions coming soon. Each filter is crafted to reflect the doctrinal distinctives and theological preferences of that tradition.

We're actively adding more denominations. If yours isn't listed, reach out — we'd love to build it.

Pricing & Plans
Is there really a free trial? What's the catch?

Yes — 30 days free, 5 full research sessions, no credit card required. There's no catch. We want you to experience what Exegete actually does for your sermon prep before you commit to anything.

After the trial, you can choose a paid plan or stop — no automatic charges, no hidden fees.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes, absolutely. Cancel anytime from your account settings — no questions asked, no cancellation fees. If you cancel mid-month, you keep access until the end of your billing period.

Is there a discount for churches or ministry teams?

We're building out team and church plans — if you have multiple pastors or staff members who would benefit, reach out to us directly and we'll work something out. We believe in supporting the local church and aren't interested in pricing ministries out.

Sermon Review & Post Sermon
What is Sermon Review and how does it work?

Sermon Review lets you paste your completed sermon manuscript and receive feedback from two angles: rhetorical craft (structure, transitions, clarity, pacing, and delivery cues) and theological alignment (whether your content lines up with your denomination's doctrine, with specific affirmations and any concerns flagged).

Think of it as a trusted colleague who knows both homiletics and your tradition's theology reviewing your manuscript before Sunday. You can also upload a text file or use the built-in recorder to practice aloud and get feedback on your spoken delivery.

Can I record myself practicing my sermon?

Yes — the Record tab in Sermon Review lets you practice your sermon out loud directly in the browser. It uses your microphone to transcribe your words in real time, then submits that transcript for rhetorical and theological feedback when you stop.

This feature is designed for rehearsal only — not for recording a live service or congregation. It works best in Chrome or Edge on desktop. On mobile, we recommend using the Paste Text tab instead.

What is Post Sermon and what does it produce?

Post Sermon is a PRO feature that takes a recording of your preached sermon — audio or video — and turns it into three things at once:

1. A podcast-ready package — episode title, description, show notes, chapter markers, and tags you can paste directly into Spotify, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you publish.

2. Delivery & rhetoric coaching — honest feedback on how you actually preached it: opening hook, structure, clarity, energy, conclusion, and top coaching suggestions for next time.

3. Theological alignment review — checks what you said (not just what you planned to say) against your denomination's doctrine, with specific affirmations and any concerns flagged from the actual transcript.

What audio and video formats does Post Sermon support?

Post Sermon accepts most common audio and video formats including MP3, M4A, WAV, AAC, MP4, and MOV. The maximum file size is 25MB.

For a typical 45-minute sermon, exporting your audio at 64kbps MP3 will produce a file well under the limit. If your recording is larger, most phones and desktop audio apps let you export or compress to a smaller size before uploading.

Is Post Sermon included in every plan?

Post Sermon is a PRO feature. It's available on the Pro plan and is included during your 30-day free trial so you can experience the full suite before committing. The Free Trial and Basic plan include Sermon Review and Research.

Privacy & Data
Is my sermon content private? Who can see my notes?

Your sermon notes are used only to generate your research results — they are never shared, sold, or used to train AI models. What you type stays between you and the tool.

We take pastoral confidentiality seriously. Your sermon preparation is sacred ground and we treat it that way.

Do you use my data to train AI?

No. Your sermon notes and research sessions are never used to train AI models — ours or anyone else's. We use the Anthropic API with data privacy protections in place that prohibit training on customer data.

Who We Are

Mission & Core Values

Exegete exists to equip pastors with theologically vetted research — historical context, cross-references, and doctrinal insights — to strengthen sermons they have already formed, never to replace the sacred work of preparation.

Our Three Core Values
✝️
The Pastor Leads
AI assists — it never replaces. Your calling, your study, and your spiritual discernment are irreplaceable. Exegete exists to resource the work you have already begun, not to do it for you.
🛡️
Theological Integrity
Every resource, cross-reference, and insight is filtered through orthodox, doctrinally sound theology. What you find here has been tested against Scripture and the historic Christian faith so you can trust what you bring to your congregation.
📖
Depth, Not Shortcuts
The best sermons are born from pastors who pray, study, and wrestle with the text. Exegete helps you go deeper — bringing historical background, scholarly insight, and doctrinal clarity to the sermon you have already labored to build.
